Become a member!

Are you one in a million? Women in DAR form lifelong bonds, honor their revolutionary ancestors and promote historic preservation, education and patriotism in their communities. We have answers to your questions about becoming a member of this historic and vibrant organization.
In order to be eligible for membership, a woman must be 18 years of age or older, and provide proof of lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who contributed to the achievement of American independence.

  • Collect & ship items for DAR Project Patriot

  • Collect & donate items to Roseburg VA Hospital in DAR Service to Veterans

  • Collect labels & Box Tops in support of DAR Schools

  • Contribute to Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Oregon

  • Donate books to NSDAR Library in Washington, D.C.

  • Presented Community Service Award to Louis & Pearl Campbell

  • Presented Community Service Award to Taylor Graham for organizing “Read for the Need” and Support our local Food Share program

  • Sponsored American History essay contest for local students

  • Sponsored $10,000 NSDAR Grant for “Remembrance Garden” at Oregon Coast Military Heritage Museum

  • Sponsored a brick for “Freedom & Remembrance Wall” for Oregon Coast Military Heritage Museum

  • Developed a name index for the brick panels at Florence Veteran’s Memorial Park

  • Recognized Lonnie Iholts for Patriotism

  • Supported a wounded veteran from Oregon

  • Established DAR Scholarship fund to award an annual $500 scholarship to a local high school student

  • Nominated Marsha Klosterman, winner of OSSDAR 2011 Outstanding American History Teacher for the State of Oregon

  • Member Analee Tohill winner of Literacy Promotion Award 2010 and 2012

  • Honorary Regent Shirley O’Neil named Outstanding Volunteer Genealogist & awarded Jean Wycoff Membership Memorial Award 2011

  • Received DAR Service for Veterans Award 2011

  • Three members winners of eight American Heritage contest awards 2011

  • Awarded Silver Level for Spread the American Spirit contest 2010-2011

  • Received highest award for Chapter Achievement 2008-2016

  • Conduct annual Lineage Workshops

  • Since June 2013, presented five scholarships to a deserving high school senior

  • Chapter sponsored a Christmas tree for the Oregon Coast Military Heritage Museum: December 2013, 2014, & 2015, & 2017. 

  • Chapter sponsord a Flag through Kiwanis International that is displayed at least ten times per year on holidays

  • Presented a Community Service Award to Kaylee Graham for her “Power of Florence” Day organization

  • Chapter supports the Food Backpack for Kids program in Florence

  • Chapter presented three volume Women in the American Revolution book sets to Siuslaw Library

  • Chapter presented their DAR: Delicious Ancestral Recipes cookbook to Siuslaw Library

  • Chapter presented Guinness Certificate of Recognition to Siuslaw Elementary School for letters written to active duty military

  • Awarded $500 Scholarship to Andrea Sanchez

  • Presented Community Service Award to Woody Woodbury

  • Presented Community Service Award to Emma Meier

  • Awarded $500 Scholarship to Danielle Goldblatt
